The Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique (STAT) was founded in 1958 by teachers who were trained personally by FM Alexander.
STAT’s aims to advance standards of teacher training and professional practice, to promote public awareness and understanding of the Alexander Technique, and to encourage research into the Technique. The Society publishes a regular newsletter (STATNews) and The Alexander Journal.
ATAS is the International Affiliated Societies of Teachers of the Alexander Technique.
Please look here to find STAT-affiliated societies overseas.
Friends of the Alxander Technique is a charity supported by STAT.
It is a participative organisation for people who use the Technique in any aspect of their lives. The aim is to encourage a sense of community amongst people at all levels of experience in the Alexander Technique, with a view to providing support for those who are learning, living and teaching it, and to inspire others to become interested.
This introductory video to the Alexander Technique was produced by the BMJ following the publication of the 'Randomised controlled trial of Alexander technique lessons, exercise, and massage for chronic and recurrent back pain'.
The original research paper was published 19 August 2008 (BMJ 2008;337:a884 ).
